On November 13, 2025, Ontario’s school boards were each tasked with creating a Student and Family Support Office. These new Offices are intended to give parents and guardians a way to escalate concerns and resolve complaints about their child’s education.
NEWS: Ontario Launching New Student and Family Support Offices at Every School Board | Ontario Newsroom
As ombuds, we support transparency, accountability, and the fair and timely resolution of concerns. It will be critically important to ensure that these offices do what they are intended to do – provide trusted guidance and realistic options for anyone who has tried to resolve a concern with a teacher or principal at the school level. These Offices will be handling complex and contentious matters where timely responses are essential.
Launching in January 2026 for the boards which are currently under supervision, including the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), and in September 2026 for the other provincial boards .
